What is a memorial bench?
A memorial bench can give those that are grieving a sense of closure. Plus, it is a means of giving back to the community here in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Many people will be able to appreciate and use this lovely addition whilst celebrating a life once lived. So basically, a memorial bench is a piece of furniture that commemorates a person who has passed away. Our masons typically make memorial benches from wood, but if you have a special request we can use metal, stone or other synthetic materials. Contact our in-house staff and they will advise you on the best material for your commemoration.
Where to place a memorial bench?
When ordering a memorial bench, you will have to decide where to place it. Some of our clients prefer private areas where they can spend time mourning whenever and however. Public places that hold sentimental value is also great for memorial bench placement like the seafront. Unfortunately, we will have to follow local laws when it comes to picking the right spot for your bench. Local authorities will have to grant permission, but with us here at Memorials of Virginia Beach we care about our clients and we will gladly assist you in getting approval. Get in touch and we will gladly arrange all the nitty gritty - giving you the time you deserve to mourn.
Memorial Bench Materials.
We can offer our clients all the common types of materials used in assembling memorial benches. Teak is a great choice especially here in Virginia Beach, it won’t warp, rot or crack despite harsh weather conditions. In addition, teak requires no treatment and maintenance. For a more natural option, we can design a memorial bench with oak and mahogany - we do however, have to mention that oak and mahogany are more prone to surface cracks than teak and both these materials will have to undergo regular maintenance. To protect memorial benches, our masons can apply an oil or varnish finish.
Many clients wish to add an engraving to their memorial benches. Again, we need to adhere to cemetery regulations before engravings are done. Our specialized and experienced masons can add your loved one’s name, birth date, the date they passed away as well as personalized messages. Popular personalized engravings include: fond memories, in remembrance of or may you rest in peace. During times like these it can be overwhelming and finding the right words seem near impossible. Our team will support you in articulating a personalization that truly commemorates your loved one.
